I am so grateful to be in a profession where I can combine my passion for helping people, my attention to detail, and my affinity for building relationships. Through orthodontics, lives are transformed in a positive way, rippling out into the community. In this way, my efforts can go towards making the world a better place. I take a holistic approach to my practice as an orthodontist and try to find and address the root cause of problems, seeing beyond the mouth and teeth. Educating my patients is very important so they can learn and understand how to make improvements on their own. My goal is to make patients happy, to give them a smile that makes them smile more, to ensure they have a functional bite, and to improve their overall well-being.
I worked alongside my father, Dr. Kenneth Kai, and older brother, Dr. Marcus Kai, in California for my first 5 years of practicing orthodontics after residency. For a more balanced life, my husband and I decided to move our small family of three to Austin, Texas. After 4.5 years of practicing traditional orthodontics in Austin, and now with three kids, we moved to the Denver, Colorado area for our love of the outdoors. There, I practiced integrative orthodontics with a focus on protecting and developing the airway for both children and adults, especially children. After living in Colorado for 4 years, we moved to Honolulu, Hawai‘i. Growing up, I would visit Hawai‘i with my parents and siblings, as we have family here. My paternal grandmother was born at Queens Hospital and raised in ‘Aiea, and my father spent part of his childhood at Hickham Field. At 100 years old, my great aunt is still living in Honolulu. My husband and I choose to live life with humility and to treat others with warmth, respect, and kindness, and so we embrace and appreciate the Aloha Spirit.

Continuing Education
As a lifelong learner, I am continually trying to stay current with not just orthodontics, but other fields to be able to better treat and help my patients.
In the Community
In both dental school and orthodontic residency, I went on mission trips to Ecuador and Mexico, respectively, to help the local underserved dental community with their dental needs. (I can speak Spanish.) I have also participated in Give Kids a Smile Day.
I volunteer at my children's elementary school.
Outside the Office
My husband, three kids, and I love to be in and appreciate nature. We ride our bikes and scooters together to the beach, go hiking, and love to travel when we can. We also love movie nights at home with homemade popcorn!
